Hip Ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses ultrasound waves to examine the hip joint and is very accurate in assessing the presence of hip joint fluid.

Hip ultrasound is also useful in the diagnosis of hip pain, hip osteoarthritis , hip inflammation and snapping hip syndrome.

Structures we assess:

  • presence of effusion,
  • labrum,
  • bone contours,
  • muscles and tendons,
  • nerves,
  • iliotibial tract.

Indications for Hip ultrasound:

  • hip pain,
  • hip injury,
  • snapping hip,
  • hip inflammation,
  • limited range of motion,
  • monitoring of treatment.

Preparing for the examination:

There are no special demands.
