Morton’s Neuroma

Morton’s neuroma is a condition that affects the ball of the foot.

The main symptom is a pain expecially in the area between third and fourth toes. Morton’s Neuroma is caused by compression and irritation of small branches of plantar nerve coursing to the toes. The pain gets stronger during excessive forefoot plantar preassure. Predisposing factors to develop Morton’s neuroma are high heeled shoes, foot deformities, repetitive trauma caused by running.

Symptoms:

  • pain in the ball of the foot,
  • burning and numbness,
  • a feeling that there is something in the shoe.

Treatment:

  • insoles,
  • anti-inflammatory medicines,
  • steroid injection,
  • hydrodissection of nerves.
  • in some cases the surgery in needed.
