Conditions, we do joint aspiration:
- osteoarthritis,
- post traumatic hematoma,
- joint inflammation,
- rheumatoid arthritis,
- crystal-induced arthropathy,
- unexplained joint effusion.
Preparation for joint aspiration:
Before performing the procedure the patient should inform the attending physician about the medications he takes and the general state of health.
What does the procedure entail?
The procedure can be performed with anesthesia. The skin is disinfected and then the needle is inserted inside the joint cavity in order to aspirate the joint fluid . The procedure can be performed under ultrasound control. A dressing is applied after the procedure.
Complications:
Correctly performed procedure is very safe. Transiently after the procedure symptoms of inflammation may occur.
