Ankle ultrasound is a diagnostic imaging modality that uses ultrasound waves to assess ankle joint structures.

The examination consists of static assessment and dynamic maneuvers to examine ligaments and tendons stability. Ankle ultrasound is safe , can be performed many times to monitor the process of healing.

Anatomical structures we assess:

  • ankle recesses,
  • ligaments,
  • tendons,
  • muscles,
  • joints cavity,
  • nerves,
  • Achilles tendon,
  • bursae,
  • bony contours.

Indications for ankle ultrasound examination:

  • ankle sprain,
  • ankle pain,
  • ankle instability,
  • ankle swelling,
  • ankle inflammation.

Preparing for the examination:

There are no special demands.
