Scar Tissue Pain

Scar Tissue Pain

Although many scars are painless, some are very irritating causing symptoms like burning, piercing, stabbing.

The skin around the scar can also be tender. After the soft tissue injury or surgery small nerves can be mechanically injuried or entrapped by the forming scar. Both mechanisms can cause the scar tissue pain which in fact is a kind of neuropathic pain. Sometimes nerve injury can lead to the formation of a neuroma.

Diagnosis:

Diagnosis is based on history, ultrasound examination. Very helpful is diagnostic block with anesthesia.

Interventions we perform in the scar tissue pain:

  • scar tissue hydrodissection,

  • diagnostic block.
