Shoulder Ultrasound

Shoulder Ultrasound

Shoulder ultrasound is one of the most frequently performed muscolosceletal ultrasound examinations.

During the examination we perform different dynamic maneuvers which can assess shoulder instability and shoulder internal and external impingement.

Anatomical structures we assess:

  • long head biceps tendon,
  • contour of epiphysis,
  • acromio-clavicular joint,
  • shoulder ligaments,
  • bursae,
  • labrum,
  • rotator cuff,
  • if indicated brachial plexus.

Indications for ultrasound shoulder examination:

  • limitations of shoulder movement,
  • shoulder pain,
  • shoulder instability,
  • shoulder swelling,
  • atrophy of shoulder muscles,
  • weakness of shoulder strength,
  • indications to perform shoulder examination from other doctors.
