Golfer’s Elbow

Golfer’s Elbow

Golfer’s elbow also known as a medial epicondylitis is the condition that causes pain on the inside of the elbow.

It is a chronic inflammation of the wrist flexor tendons at the point they attach onto the medial epicondyle of humerus. With progression of the disease the structure of the flexor tendons becomes degenerative with developing of scars, ruptures, calcifications and spurs.

The symptoms of Golfer’s elbow:

  • pain on the inside of the elbow,
  • pain gets stronger during gripping things,
  • general weakness in the wrist,
  • tenderness over medial epicondyle,
  • elbow stiffness,

Diagnosis:

The diagnosis is mainly based on patient’s history, symptoms and physical examination. Sometimes it is recommended to perform an X-ray, MRI and ultrasound.

 Conservative treatment:

  • rehabilitation,
  • shock waves,
  • anti-inflammatory medications.

Interventions:

  • steroid block,
  • prolotherapy,
  • dry needling,
  • PRP.

Dr. Marcin Goczewski performs all mentioned above interventions only under ultrasound guidance in order to increase the chance of successful therapy and minimize the risk of complications.
