Frozen Shoulder
Frozen Shoulder
Frozen shoulder called adhesive capsulitis is a condition characterised by stiffness and shoulder pain.
The range of motion is very limited. The glenohumeral joint is surrounded by a very loose joint capsule separating the joint from the rotator cuff muscles. When the capsule becomes inflamed and stiff it leads to pain and to limit the range of motion. Predisposing factors to adhesive capsulitis are age , female gender, diabetes, thyroid diseases. Frozen shoulder can last for a couple of years.
